Bart Starr was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame and the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1977. During his 16 years with the Green Bay Packers, Starr led his team to five World Championships in the 1960s. He was MVP in Super Bowls I and II, NFL MVP in 1966 and NFL Man of the Year in 1969. He played in the Pro Bowl six times. Starr was the first winner of the Byron Whizzer White Award, the NFL Award for Citizenship and the person who best displays the quality of a true professional athlete. Starr retired from the Green Bay Packers in 1972 and then served as a Game Analyst for CBS-TV from 1973-74. He went on to coach the Packers from 1975-1983.
Today Mr. Starr runs Bart Starr Enterprises and is the Co-Founder of the Rawhide Boys Ranch in New London, Wisconsin. Located on the Wolf River, south of New London, this 500-acre facility provides a rustic, relaxed setting for boys to get their lives back on track. Rawhide provides homes and training for boys ages 8 to 17, referred by juvenile courts. The boys attend school on the grounds at the Starr Academy where academic and vocational classes are taught. Bart and Cherry Starr have two sons, Bart Jr. and Bret (1964-1988). Donations to the Bret Starr Memorial Fund benefit the Rawhide Boys Ranch (www.rawhide.org).
